Sidekick Syndrome: Seeking Validation in Thin Air

First observed in 2009, Sidekick Syndrome describes an amusing yet perplexing social dynamic—where the sidekick of an attractive girl displays unwarranted hostility toward a so-called “scapegoat.” She behaves as if she rejected or despised him, implying he once sought her attention. But the reality? He never spoke to her, she means nothing to him, yet she acts hostile.

This behavior isn’t driven by genuine emotions but rather by an urge to prove something to her girl gang—that she, too, holds power in the social hierarchy. That she is desirable, that she can afford to "reject." Yet, in truth, she was never even a consideration. The rejection exists only in her mind, making the whole act pointless and, frankly, laughable.
